Ayah 1 of Al-Ghaashiya 88:1

Arabic Text

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ هَلْ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ ٱلْغَٰشِيَةِ

Transliteration

Hal ataaka hadeesul ghaashiyah

Translation

Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]?

Ayah 2 of Al-Ghaashiya 88:2

Arabic Text

وُجُوهٌۭ يَوْمَئِذٍ خَٰشِعَةٌ

Transliteration

Wujoohuny yawma 'izin khaashi'ah

Translation

[Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled,

Ayah 3 of Al-Ghaashiya 88:3

Arabic Text

عَامِلَةٌۭ نَّاصِبَةٌۭ

Transliteration

'Aamilatun naasibah

Translation

Working [hard] and exhausted.

Ayah 4 of Al-Ghaashiya 88:4

Arabic Text

تَصْلَىٰ نَارًا حَامِيَةًۭ

Transliteration

Taslaa naaran haamiyah

Translation

They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire.

Ayah 5 of Al-Ghaashiya 88:5

Arabic Text

تُسْقَىٰ مِنْ عَيْنٍ ءَانِيَةٍۢ

Transliteration

Tusqaa min 'aynin aaniyah

Translation

They will be given drink from a boiling spring.

Ayah 6 of Al-Ghaashiya 88:6

Arabic Text

لَّيْسَ لَهُمْ طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِن ضَرِيعٍۢ

Transliteration

Laisa lahum ta'aamun illaa min daree'

Translation

For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant

Ayah 7 of Al-Ghaashiya 88:7

Arabic Text

لَّا يُسْمِنُ وَلَا يُغْنِى مِن جُوعٍۢ

Transliteration

Laa yusminu wa laa yughnee min joo'

Translation

Which neither nourishes nor avails against hunger.

Ayah 8 of Al-Ghaashiya 88:8

Arabic Text

وُجُوهٌۭ يَوْمَئِذٍۢ نَّاعِمَةٌۭ

Transliteration

Wujoohuny yawma 'izin naa'imah

Translation

[Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure.

Ayah 9 of Al-Ghaashiya 88:9

Arabic Text

لِّسَعْيِهَا رَاضِيَةٌۭ

Transliteration

Lisa'yihaa raadiyah

Translation

With their effort [they are] satisfied

Ayah 10 of Al-Ghaashiya 88:10

Arabic Text

فِى جَنَّةٍ عَالِيَةٍۢ

Transliteration

Fee jannatin 'aaliyah

Translation

In an elevated garden,

Ayah 11 of Al-Ghaashiya 88:11

Arabic Text

لَّا تَسْمَعُ فِيهَا لَٰغِيَةًۭ

Transliteration

Laa tasma'u feehaa laaghiyah

Translation

Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech.

Ayah 12 of Al-Ghaashiya 88:12

Arabic Text

فِيهَا عَيْنٌۭ جَارِيَةٌۭ

Transliteration

Feehaa 'aynun jaariyah

Translation

Within it is a flowing spring.

Ayah 13 of Al-Ghaashiya 88:13

Arabic Text

فِيهَا سُرُرٌۭ مَّرْفُوعَةٌۭ

Transliteration

Feehaa sururum marfoo'ah

Translation

Within it are couches raised high

Ayah 14 of Al-Ghaashiya 88:14

Arabic Text

وَأَكْوَابٌۭ مَّوْضُوعَةٌۭ

Transliteration

Wa akwaabum mawdoo 'ah

Translation

And cups put in place

Ayah 15 of Al-Ghaashiya 88:15

Arabic Text

وَنَمَارِقُ مَصْفُوفَةٌۭ

Transliteration

Wa namaariqu masfoofah

Translation

And cushions lined up

Ayah 16 of Al-Ghaashiya 88:16

Arabic Text

وَزَرَابِىُّ مَبْثُوثَةٌ

Transliteration

Wa zaraabiyyu mabsoosah

Translation

And carpets spread around.

Ayah 17 of Al-Ghaashiya 88:17

Arabic Text

أَفَلَا يَنظُرُونَ إِلَى ٱلْإِبِلِ كَيْفَ خُلِقَتْ

Transliteration

Afalaa yanzuroona ilalibili kaifa khuliqat

Translation

Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created?

Ayah 18 of Al-Ghaashiya 88:18

Arabic Text

وَإِلَى ٱلسَّمَآءِ كَيْفَ رُفِعَتْ

Transliteration

Wa ilas samaaa'i kaifa rufi'at

Translation

And at the sky - how it is raised?

Ayah 19 of Al-Ghaashiya 88:19

Arabic Text

وَإِلَى ٱلْجِبَالِ كَيْفَ نُصِبَتْ

Transliteration

Wa ilal jibaali kaifa nusibat

Translation

And at the mountains - how they are erected?

Ayah 20 of Al-Ghaashiya 88:20

Arabic Text

وَإِلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ كَيْفَ سُطِحَتْ

Transliteration

Wa ilal ardi kaifa sutihat

Translation

And at the earth - how it is spread out?

Ayah 21 of Al-Ghaashiya 88:21

Arabic Text

فَذَكِّرْ إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مُذَكِّرٌۭ

Transliteration

Fazakkir innama anta Muzakkir

Translation

So remind, [O Muhammad]
you are only a reminder.

Ayah 22 of Al-Ghaashiya 88:22

Arabic Text

لَّسْتَ عَلَيْهِم بِمُصَيْطِرٍ

Transliteration

Lasta 'alaihim bimusaitir

Translation

You are not over them a controller.

Ayah 23 of Al-Ghaashiya 88:23

Arabic Text

إِلَّا مَن تَوَلَّىٰ وَكَفَرَ

Transliteration

Illaa man tawallaa wa kafar

Translation

However, he who turns away and disbelieves -

Ayah 24 of Al-Ghaashiya 88:24

Arabic Text

فَيُعَذِّبُهُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْعَذَابَ ٱلْأَكْبَرَ

Transliteration

Fa yu'azzibuhul laahul 'azaabal akbar

Translation

Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment.

Ayah 25 of Al-Ghaashiya 88:25

Arabic Text

إِنَّ إِلَيْنَآ إِيَابَهُمْ

Transliteration

Innaa ilainaaa iyaabahum

Translation

Indeed, to Us is their return.

Ayah 26 of Al-Ghaashiya 88:26

Arabic Text

ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا حِسَابَهُم

Transliteration

Summa inna 'alainaa hisaabahum

Translation

Then indeed, upon Us is their account.
