Ayah 1 of Al-Burooj 85:1

Arabic Text

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ وَٱلسَّمَآءِ ذَاتِ ٱلْبُرُوجِ

Transliteration

Wassamaaa'i zaatil burooj

Translation

By the sky containing great stars

Ayah 2 of Al-Burooj 85:2

Arabic Text

وَٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلْمَوْعُودِ

Transliteration

Wal yawmil maw'ood

Translation

And [by] the promised Day

Ayah 3 of Al-Burooj 85:3

Arabic Text

وَشَاهِدٍۢ وَمَشْهُودٍۢ

Transliteration

Wa shaahidinw wa mashhood

Translation

And [by] the witness and what is witnessed,

Ayah 4 of Al-Burooj 85:4

Arabic Text

قُتِلَ أَصْحَٰبُ ٱلْأُخْدُودِ

Transliteration

Qutila as haabul ukhdood

Translation

Cursed were the companions of the trench

Ayah 5 of Al-Burooj 85:5

Arabic Text

ٱلنَّارِ ذَاتِ ٱلْوَقُودِ

Transliteration

Annaari zaatil waqood

Translation

[Containing] the fire full of fuel,

Ayah 6 of Al-Burooj 85:6

Arabic Text

إِذْ هُمْ عَلَيْهَا قُعُودٌۭ

Transliteration

Iz hum 'alaihaa qu'ood

Translation

When they were sitting near it

Ayah 7 of Al-Burooj 85:7

Arabic Text

وَهُمْ عَلَىٰ مَا يَفْعَلُونَ بِٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ شُهُودٌۭ

Transliteration

Wa hum 'alaa maa yaf'aloona bilmu 'mineena shuhood

Translation

And they, to what they were doing against the believers, were witnesses.

Ayah 8 of Al-Burooj 85:8

Arabic Text

وَمَا نَقَمُوا۟ مِنْهُمْ إِلَّآ أَن يُؤْمِنُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ ٱلْعَزِيزِ ٱلْحَمِيدِ

Transliteration

Wa maa naqamoo minhum illaaa aiyu'minoo billaahil 'azeezil Hameed

Translation

And they resented them not except because they believed in Allah, the Exalted in Might, the Praiseworthy,

Ayah 9 of Al-Burooj 85:9

Arabic Text

ٱلَّذِى لَهُۥ مُلْكُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍۢ شَهِيدٌ

Transliteration

Allazee lahoo mulkus samaawaati wal ard
wallaahu 'alaa kulli shai 'in Shaheed

Translation

To whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. And Allah, over all things, is Witness.

Ayah 10 of Al-Burooj 85:10

Arabic Text

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ فَتَنُوا۟ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنَٰتِ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَتُوبُوا۟ فَلَهُمْ عَذَابُ جَهَنَّمَ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابُ ٱلْحَرِيقِ

Transliteration

Innal lazeena fatanul mu'mineena wal mu'minaati summa lam yatooboo falahum 'azaabu Jahannama wa lahum 'azaabul hareeq

Translation

Indeed, those who have tortured the believing men and believing women and then have not repented will have the punishment of Hell, and they will have the punishment of the Burning Fire.

Ayah 11 of Al-Burooj 85:11

Arabic Text

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ لَهُمْ جَنَّٰتٌۭ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَٰرُ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْكَبِيرُ

Transliteration

Innal lazeena aamanoo wa 'amilus saalihaati lahum Jannaatun tajree min tahtihal anhaar
zaalikal fawzul kabeer

Translation

Indeed, those who have believed and done righteous deeds will have gardens beneath which rivers flow. That is the great attainment.

Ayah 12 of Al-Burooj 85:12

Arabic Text

إِنَّ بَطْشَ رَبِّكَ لَشَدِيدٌ

Transliteration

Inna batsha Rabbika lashadeed

Translation

Indeed, the vengeance of your Lord is severe.

Ayah 13 of Al-Burooj 85:13

Arabic Text

إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ يُبْدِئُ وَيُعِيدُ

Transliteration

Innahoo Huwa yubdi'u wa yu'eed

Translation

Indeed, it is He who originates [creation] and repeats.

Ayah 14 of Al-Burooj 85:14

Arabic Text

وَهُوَ ٱلْغَفُورُ ٱلْوَدُودُ

Transliteration

Wa Huwal Ghafoorul Wadood

Translation

And He is the Forgiving, the Affectionate,

Ayah 15 of Al-Burooj 85:15

Arabic Text

ذُو ٱلْعَرْشِ ٱلْمَجِيدُ

Transliteration

Zul 'Arshil Majeed

Translation

Honorable Owner of the Throne,

Ayah 16 of Al-Burooj 85:16

Arabic Text

فَعَّالٌۭ لِّمَا يُرِيدُ

Transliteration

Fa' 'aalul limaa yureed

Translation

Effecter of what He intends.

Ayah 17 of Al-Burooj 85:17

Arabic Text

هَلْ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ ٱلْجُنُودِ

Transliteration

Hal ataaka hadeesul junood

Translation

Has there reached you the story of the soldiers -

Ayah 18 of Al-Burooj 85:18

Arabic Text

فِرْعَوْنَ وَثَمُودَ

Transliteration

Fir'awna wa Samood

Translation

[Those of] Pharaoh and Thamud?

Ayah 19 of Al-Burooj 85:19

Arabic Text

بَلِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ فِى تَكْذِيبٍۢ

Transliteration

Balil lazeena kafaroo fee takzeeb

Translation

But they who disbelieve are in [persistent] denial,

Ayah 20 of Al-Burooj 85:20

Arabic Text

وَٱللَّهُ مِن وَرَآئِهِم مُّحِيطٌۢ

Transliteration

Wallaahu minw waraaa'ihim muheet

Translation

While Allah encompasses them from behind.

Ayah 21 of Al-Burooj 85:21

Arabic Text

بَلْ هُوَ قُرْءَانٌۭ مَّجِيدٌۭ

Transliteration

Bal huwa Quraanum Majeed

Translation

But this is an honored Qur'an

Ayah 22 of Al-Burooj 85:22

Arabic Text

فِى لَوْحٍۢ مَّحْفُوظٍۭ

Transliteration

Fee Lawhim Mahfooz

Translation

[Inscribed] in a Preserved Slate.
