سورة المسد

The Palm Fibre5 verses Meccan

Translated by Abul Ala Maududi

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

1

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ تَبَّتْ يَدَا أَبِي لَهَبٍ وَتَبَّ

Destroyed were the hands of Abu Lahab, and he lay utterly doomed.

2

مَا أَغْنَىٰ عَنْهُ مَالُهُ وَمَا كَسَبَ

His wealth did not avail him, nor his acquisitions.

3

سَيَصْلَىٰ نَارًا ذَاتَ لَهَبٍ

Surely, he will be cast into a Flaming Fire

4

وَامْرَأَتُهُ حَمَّالَةَ الْحَطَبِ

along with his wife, that carrier of slanderous tales;

5

فِي جِيدِهَا حَبْلٌ مِنْ مَسَدٍ

upon her neck shall be a rope of palm-fibre.
