بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ وَالسَّمَاءِ ذَاتِ الْبُرُوجِ

By heaven of the constellations,

وَالْيَوْمِ الْمَوْعُودِ

by the promised day,

وَشَاهِدٍ وَمَشْهُودٍ

by the witness and the witnessed,

قُتِلَ أَصْحَابُ الْأُخْدُودِ

slain were the Men of the Pit,

النَّارِ ذَاتِ الْوَقُودِ

the fire abounding in fuel,

إِذْ هُمْ عَلَيْهَا قُعُودٌ

when they were seated over it

وَهُمْ عَلَىٰ مَا يَفْعَلُونَ بِالْمُؤْمِنِينَ شُهُودٌ

and were themselves witnesses of what they did with the believers.

وَمَا نَقَمُوا مِنْهُمْ إِلَّا أَنْ يُؤْمِنُوا بِاللَّهِ الْعَزِيزِ الْحَمِيدِ

They took revenge on them only because they believed in the All-mighty, the Al-laudable,

الَّذِي لَهُ مُلْكُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ ۚ وَاللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ شَهِيدٌ

God to whom belongs the Kingdom of the heavens and the earth, and God is Witness over everything.

إِنَّ الَّذِينَ فَتَنُوا الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَتُوبُوا فَلَهُمْ عَذَابُ جَهَنَّمَ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابُ الْحَرِيقِ

Those who persecute the believers, men and women, and then have not repented, there awaits them the chastisement of Gehenna, and there awaits them the chastisement of the burning.

إِنَّ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ لَهُمْ جَنَّاتٌ تَجْرِي مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الْأَنْهَارُ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ الْفَوْزُ الْكَبِيرُ

Those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for them await gardens underneath which rivers flow; that is the great triumph.

إِنَّ بَطْشَ رَبِّكَ لَشَدِيدٌ

Surely thy Lord's assault is terrible.

إِنَّهُ هُوَ يُبْدِئُ وَيُعِيدُ

Surely it is He who originates, and brings again,

وَهُوَ الْغَفُورُ الْوَدُودُ

and He is the All-forgiving, the All-loving,

ذُو الْعَرْشِ الْمَجِيدُ

Lord of the Throne, the All-glorious,

فَعَّالٌ لِمَا يُرِيدُ

Performer of what He desires.

هَلْ أَتَاكَ حَدِيثُ الْجُنُودِ

Hast thou received the story of the hosts,

فِرْعَوْنَ وَثَمُودَ

Pharaoh and Thamood?

بَلِ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا فِي تَكْذِيبٍ

Nay, but the unbelievers still cry lies,

وَاللَّهُ مِنْ وَرَائِهِمْ مُحِيطٌ

and God is behind them, encompassing.

بَلْ هُوَ قُرْآنٌ مَجِيدٌ

Nay, but it is a glorious Koran,

فِي لَوْحٍ مَحْفُوظٍ

in a guarded tablet.
